A retrograde planet can cross the same boundary more than once. This tool searches sign changes; it does not calculate every possible transit aspect to a personal natal chart.
Try this: track Mercury over 90 days and look for repeated crossings. The search covers only its selected window, so no crossing in that interval does not mean the planet will never enter another sign.
